Mars to Chambersburg, PA - Friday, 3 June 2016

It's reunion weekend at Wilson College, so that means an Alumnae Association of Wilson College Board Meeting. Left Mars about 10:15 this morning and the drive was very pleasant until about a half hour outside Chambersburg when torrential rains came pelting from the sky. Needless to say, that wasn't a pleasant continuation of the drive. It was hard to see, but what was even more scary was the unfamiliarty of where the water would pool on the road. Got to campus just as it was letting up. Checked in at the registration desk and dropped off my contribution to the Silent Auction. Picked up my board packet in the board room and then headed to the Holiday Inn Express.

Accommodation is very nice and roomy. Got the toiletries out and the electronics set up - the most important thing. Then headed back to campus for a couple of sessions of the Alumnae College. Interesting sessions on women in the arts and then the history of Chambersburg and the Wilson Connection.  The seats in Warfield Auditorium (now Allen Hall) are actually padded. What an improvement from 46 years ago.

Had some free time before dinner so sat on the green and read a bit. There's just something comforting about being back on campus. I am very impressed with the design of the Commons and how they have incorporated the main classroom buildings.

Dinner tonight was a picnic on the green and was a delicious buffet of bar-b-q chicken, pulled pork, vegetables, baked beans, cole slaw, potato salad, and strawberry shortcake. Topped it off with a beer and all was good. Had a nice chat with Jane and Ken Moriarty, my college roommate's sister who was back celebrating her 50th year reunion.

Back to the hotel and watched the Buccos while fooling around trying to figure out a new blog program. Not a good night tonight, maybe because they got in so late last night. 9-2 in the top of the ninth, but I need to get to bed since I have to be up so early tomorrow.
