At least I didn't have to do much but sit on the coach today. We left the hotel around 8 and headed to Prague. I must admit that even tho the drive was very picturesque, I dozed off a number of times. Basically, what we did today was sit on the coach and then have a meal or two.
We stopped for lunch along the way across in Olomouc. It was a charming restaurant very near to the center city, but a very pretty setting. Lunch was carrot soup, a sort of chicken schnitzel, chocolate cake, and, of course, a good dark beer.
Back on the road. A litle traffic along the way, and a quick rest stop to spend the last of the Polish Zloty. Since Marta would be leaving us in Prague, she had a treat for us - a shot of vodka. She was a wonderful Program Director with a great sense of humor and honesty.
We made fairly decent time and arrived at the hotel a little before 5. Checked into our room and found a broken toilet seat and no air conditioning. It was 25.2 C in the room. I turned the air on and the temperature rose to 26.1 Earle visited reception and they said that they knew there had been some problems. They offered to move us and we jumped at that opportunity. The room to which we moved was even worse. Temp there already 26C. I understand that AC in Europe is not as wide spread as in the US, but when other rooms were too cool at 18, I was incredulous. A technician came to the room and said there was nothing he could do.
Had a Welcome Drink and orientation at 6:30 so we couldn't fool around with it any more.
Dinner was a short walk across the street where there were a few different choices on the menu - beginning with a dark beer, of course. I had duck, Earle a roast beef in creme sauce.
Back to the hotel and more discussion about the AC. Finally, someone brought us an oscillating fan. It is better than nothing. Reception assured us that it would be taken care of tomorrow.
Any sort of potato dumpling is fair game!
Pirates played early today and added another loss to the record. So frustrating not to have good pitching and good hitting together.
