Today we had one last excursion to the Schönbrun Palace, the summer home of the Hapsburgs. We went to the Carriage Museum first. Although I have visited the palace twice before, the tours never included the carriages of the Hapsburgs. All the carriages are original and in very good shape. It was interesting to see some video news files of funeral and wedding processions and then seeing the actual carriages.

We walked through a portion of the gardens, not nearly enough time to explore all the nooks Nd crannies. I am glad that I was able to have had that opportunity in previous visits.
Our tour of the palace included 20 of the 40 public rooms. When we toured the palace in 2009 we were able to take pictures. That is not the case now as a result of the transfer of the ownership of the palace from the government to private hands.
Back on the coach for transfer to the ship. We had a 12:45 on board time, but we didn't make it do to the traffic. A circuitous route through the Prater helped avoid some of the congestion and we made it back just a minute past the scheduled departure time.
Lunch on board was a hot buffet with an asparagus and chive soup as a starter.
In the afternoon we sailed from Vienna and had a bit of down time. Of course, when we are sailing, there is no internet access and so we went to the apfel strudel demonstration
.
Our first glimpse of Bratislava was impressive and I am once again in the country of my grandparents.
Dinner was cream of garlic soup with rye croutons, roasted turkey with red wine cranberry sauce, and apfel strudel.
After dinner we were entertained by some Slovakian folk music entertainers.
Back to the cabin to get ready for another very busy day.
